Empty Promise: Silver

Ní liontar an bolg le caint. (You can't fill your stomach with talk.) Irish proverb

I chose the proverb “Ní liontar an bolg le caint” because it speaks to the limits of language and the urgency of “doing”. The proverb is a phrase that represents those who are “all talk” or “too big for their boots”. Words promise nourishment, comfort, and justice, yet they aren’t sustainable without action. This piece conveys a stomach with multiple mouths to embody hollow speech. The stomach represents hunger, an expectation while the mouths represent the noise that come with the performance of empty promises.
