Sunday, 29 March 2026
This interactive tour explores the rich history of food preparation and dining in Ireland, revealing how everyday domestic objects can offer deep insights into social values, cultural identity, and personal expression. Through a curated selection of artefacts, visitors will trace the evolution of culinary practices and discover how dining rituals reflect broader changes in Irish life over time. From ornate tableware to everyday domestic objects, the tour highlights the hidden stories behind objects once central to daily life. It invites participants to consider how food and its presentation have long served as a means of communication, creativity, and connection within Irish society.
This ISL-interpreted tour will start at 15:30 in Reception at Collins Barracks. Admission is free and booking is not required. Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. However, priority will be given to members of the Deaf community and those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
