This National Drawing Day, unleash your creativity at the National Museum of Ireland! Whether you're sketching a favourite museum object or discovering a new exhibition, there's something to inspire everyone at any of our three museum sites in Dublin and Mayo for a day of art, imagination, and celebration through drawing.

Have you ever wondered how craftspeople created intricate interlace and knotwork designs used to decorate early medieval manuscripts and treasures like the Ardagh Chalice? Using worksheets inspired by Timothy O’Neill’s book The Irish Art of Calligraphy, published by the Royal Ireland Academy, learn the ‘secret method’ of creating interlace, knotwork and spirals.

This drop in event takes place in the Education Room in the Museum Galleries. Materials are provided for participants to use.
