The National Museum of Ireland is taking part in the Dublin Festival of History this autumn with a variety of engaging tours across our Dublin Museum sites.
The Dublin Festival of History is an annual free festival, delivered by Dublin City Council and organised by Dublin City Libraries, in partnership with the Dublin City Council Culture Company.
The Dublin Festival of History runs from 26 September to 11 October 2026.
All tours are free and no booking is required.
Celebrate the Dublin Festival of History at Collins Barracks with a programme of free guided tours, curator talks and special events exploring Ireland’s rich social, cultural and political history. Visitors can discover the stories behind the Museum’s collections through tours including Far From Home: Migration in 20th Century Ireland, From Revolution to Repeal: An Introduction to Changing Ireland, From Barracks to Museum, Sliotars, Sashes and Symbols: Shaping Irish Identity, and dedicated LGBTQIA+ Tours of Collins Barracks. The festival also features the special pre-booked curator talk Echoes Through the Hallway: The Story of Ellis Court - examining 140 years of Dublin social housing history.
