The Ancestor’s Supper celebrates heritage foods and culture - a community supper of intercultural exchange to honour and remember our ancestors with food, celebration and ceremony. Food is needed for survival as well as a form of connection. This project looks at our relationship to food, the loss of connection to land, and the knowledge held in food sourcing. It providers storytelling through food as we exchange knowledge and form connections with people, our food sources and the environment.

This year includes a Forage Walk and Talk in the week before Samhain — gathering ancestral and seasonal foods and exploring wild plants and local knowledge. The walk connects people to place while welcoming in Samhain, reflecting on the Agricultural calendar and the Celtic Wheel of the Year. Presented during the week of Samhain and in response to the Museum’s Calendar Customs collection, Ancestor’s Supper marks Samhain as a living tradition, celebrating food, culture and community


Tuesday 28^th Oct:  Forage Walk and Talk  (11am-1pm)
Join Cailli collective for a tour through Turlough woodland and grounds for a conversation on Ancestral foods and plants and hear about the Celtic Wheel of the year. There will also be an invitation to participate in a seasonal activity to make a Samhain Mandela.
Dress in appropriate clothing footwear (warm/rain gear) for outdoors walk 

Mon 3rd Nov:  Ancestors Supper  (2pm-4pm) 
Honouring our Ancestors with food and ceremony. Celebrating Agrarian heritage, knowledge and values. Connecting cultures, stories and family legacies through community food sharing.
