March Tours at Collins Barracks

Free

A tour group in the Soldiers and Chiefs gallery

March down to Collins Barracks for a variety of free public tours exploring the Museum's collections in this busy month of national days, holidays, and other festivities!

Don't miss our bilingual, beginner-friendly tours (Gaeilge agus Béarla/Irish and English) of Collins Barracks for Seachtain na Gaeilge, a celebration of the Irish language in our society. Join us for a weekend of tours in celebration of International Women's Day, and share in the stories of women in our special edition 'Six Dresses: Representations of Women in (a) Changing Ireland' tours. In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, discover the fascinating range of symbols used to represent Ireland through time on our Not Just Shamrocks tour.

On Saturday 28th March, join us for a reflective and slow-looking tour of the Recovered Voices; Stories of the Irish at War, 1914-1915 gallery, where one of our expert guides will share the stories behind objects relating to Irish men and women impacted by the war. Exploring how artefacts can spark memory, emotion, and connection, we invite you to experience history through storytelling that speaks to the heart as well as the mind.

Please note that allocation of spaces on our Irish Sign Language interpreted tour on Sunday 29th March will prioritise deaf or hard of hearing visitors. Please contact bookings@museum.ie if you have any questions.

Tours will begin in Reception at Collins Barracks. Booking is not required. However, places are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be supervised at all times while on the premises.
