Architectural Tour of Collins Barracks
Curious about Collins Barracks? This Open House, join us for a special tour exploring the history and architecture of this remarkable building.
Once the largest purpose-built army barracks in Ireland and Britain, this imposing structure has a 300-year history! Discover the secrets hidden in its rock walls and spacious squares, the architectural quirks that colour the historic site on the banks of the Liffey. This tour will be taking place outdoors so dress appropriately for the weather!

No booking is required to attend these tours. However, places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first-served basis. Children must be supervised at all times.
Echoes through the hallway: The story of Ellis Court, 140 years in the making
In celebration of Open House Festival, Tuath Housing is partnering with the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks to create an exhibition exploring the history of Ellis Court, launching to coincide with the Dublin Festival of History. Through photographs, archival records, oral histories and personal stories, the exhibition will bring to life the experiences of the generations of individuals and families who called Ellis Court home from the 1880s onwards.The project aims to preserve and share an important chapter in Dublin’s social history, while highlighting the enduring importance of safe, secure housing in shaping communities. It will also celebrate the people of Ellis Court, past and present, ensuring their voices and experiences remain part of the historical record.
This is a free, drop-in opportunity to talk to the exhibition curators, who will be in the space on the following date and time. Children must be fully supervised by a parent or adult who is in loco parentis.
