Celebrate St. Patrick’s Weekend at the National Museum of Ireland

Step into Ireland’s rich heritage this St. Patrick’s Weekend with a wide range of tours, talks, trails, and workshops for all the family to enjoy across the National Museum of Ireland. 

From ancient hand bells and traditional St Patrick’s Day customs to hands‑on workshops and creative crafts, explore the stories, symbols and traditions that have shaped Irish culture. Events take place from 15–17 March across our Museum sites in Dublin and Co. Mayo.

Admission is free.


Celebrate St Patrick's Bank Holiday Weekend at Turlough Park

St. Patrick's Badges were traditionally made and worn by children to honour our patron saint, St. Patrick, on his feast day on 17th March. Have a go at making your own St. Patrick's Badge similar to those in our collection with artist Isolde Dingerkus.

Join the renowned Armagh Rhymers and Fingal Mummers for this family friendly hands-on workshop, drawing on the traditional art of straw craft. Rooted in ancient folk customs and mumming traditions, this workshop blends storytelling, heritage, and lots of fun at the National Museum.

Discover the artefacts associated with the patron saints of Ireland, St. Patrick, St. Brigid, and St. Colmcille, and see what archaeological evidence can tell us about the impact of Christianity to Ireland and which objects demonstrate the development of writing techniques.

Pick up our activity booklet 'Irish Saints, Stories and Scribes' and travel through the Treasury and Medieval Ireland exhibitions at the Museum to discover the objects connected to our patron saints, St. Patrick, St. Brigid and St. Colmcille. Fill in the questions and complete the activities in this activity booklet as you roam through the Museum and learn about the lives of saints in early medieval and medieval Ireland.
